When using herbs other than those I have gathered myself, I use Mountain Rose Herbs. I find their dried herbs, (also called bulk herbs), to be of exceptionally high quality! How do I know? I use my senses, and invite you to do the same:

I look for an herb to:

  • LOOK like the herb – same color as when fresh, not brown or overly faded.
  • SMELL like the herb – Fresh smell? Or is it musty, moldy or stinky?
  • TASTE like the herb – is it identifiable, or tasteless?
  • WORK LIKE the herb – do you get the results you expected?

And,

  • Be organically grown or conscientiously wildcrafted

If your answer to any of the above is no, send your herb to the compost, and click through to Mountain Rose Herbs!
